Time to tear out the old and call this project complete! We're heading to Balancing Rock Trail on Sunday, October 4 to remove the old boardwalk and pile it up for a fall burn.
Time to tear out the old and call this project complete! We're heading to Balancing Rock Trail on Sunday, October 4 to remove the old boardwalk and pile it up for a fall burn.
📍 Meet: Balancing Rock Trailhead at 9:00 am
🚗 Access: Via the hydro road off the road to the CVWMA office
We'd love a couple of side-by-sides or a 4x4 with good off-road tires to help move volunteers and gear up the trail — it'll save everyone a lot of time and energy. If that's you, please let us know!
The work:
Removing staples from the grating so it can be salvaged for future use
Cutting the boardwalk into manageable sections for moving to the burn site
Piling everything up for a fall burn
Note: we do not need to remove any logs used as stringers
What to bring:
Heavy work gloves — essential
Water and a packed lunch
Rubber boots recommended — marshy ground underfoot
Chainsaw operators: ear, eye, and leg protection required
Tools needed:
Power saws — don't worry, we'll replace any chains damaged by nails or screws
Staple removal tools and pry bars
No experience needed — just show up ready to work. Many hands make light work and we always have a great time doing it.
