Nun Lake Trail — The Sign Is Up. The Adventure Begins.
There is something about a trailhead sign that makes a trail feel real.
After several work bees — clearing the Nun Creek FSR of encroaching alders, brushing the first stretch of trail, and laying the groundwork for what will eventually be a fully restored route — the Nun Lake trailhead sign is now in place. Two partners, one mission. Recreation Sites & Trails BC and Trails for Creston Valley Society, side by side, marking the start of something worth working toward.
We want to be straight with you, because that's how we do things: the trail beyond the sign is currently in poor condition and hard to follow. This is not a trail for casual hikers or first-timers looking for a Sunday stroll. It is rough, overgrown in stretches, and requires solid navigation skills and backcountry experience to travel safely.
But it is there. And we are working on it.
The Nun Lake Trail has been on TCVS's radar for a long time — a lost alpine route leading to a stunning lake that most people in the Creston Valley have never seen. Restoring it properly takes time, funding, volunteer hours, and the kind of patient, unglamorous effort that doesn't make for exciting photos. The sign, though — the sign is a start. It is a stake in the ground that says this trail matters and this community is coming for it.
Stay tuned. There are work bees ahead, bridges to build, and a lake at the end of this that is absolutely worth every branch we clear to get there.
